World championship JKA Karate 2004, Tokyo, Japan

As mentioned somewhere else, year 2004 became one of top periods for Karatedo Tsunami Prachatice team. Not even the team took part in European Championship in Prague, but it had its representative even at World Championship of Juniors and Seniors at Tokyo, Japan.

The club has been represented by Mr. David Havlík in the country that gave to the world the art of the fight with empty hand – KARATE. All happened thanks to the performance of mentioned representative during European Championship, where he was chosen as a representative of Czech Union JKA by Technical Director of European JKA shihan Bura. And that is why he traveled to the country of rising sun to successfully carry out examination and become international instructor. He could then take a place at fights for the world championship as a referee. And it is proved he did his job well. He was nominated as a main referee on the arena until semifinals in category kumite. According to his own words, his whole performance as well as visit to Japan has been culmination of his several years long effort. He could also meet during his stay in Japan with several very important persons, for example shihan Tanaka, shihan Ohsaka or shihan Shina.

Instructorial seminar and international tournament, Solau, Lithuania

Second September weekend in 2004 the seminar and tournament took place in Lithuanian city Solau under cover of Lithuanian Union JKA with instructors shihan Ochi – chief instructor JKA Europe and shihan Bura, technical director JKA Europe. Shihan Bura led the seminar, where only holders of master degree could participate. Seminar has been dedicated to all news in standardization of kata and also drilling of techniques in kihon.

Tournament had five teams including team from Czech Republic. It is praiseworthy, that also in this seminar and tournament the Karatedo Tsunami Prachatice team had two representatives. Our team has been represented by Mr. Frantisek Vorel as a member of national team and as usually by Mr. David Havlík, who participated in instructorial seminar and worked as a referee in the tournament. Representatives of our team did quite well, which can be proved by the fact Mr. Frantisek Vorel fought out the second place with national team.

Gasshuku Budapest 04, Hungary

European junior championship 2005 took place in Beograd, the capitol of Serbia and Cerna Gora, in a last weekend of May.

Among numerous representatives of Czech Republic was also member of karatedo team Tsunami Prachatice. The team has been represented by Mr. David Havlík, and of course in the role of referee. It is no surprise he did very well also at this event, even in a role of principal referee, at final fights at both kata and kumite.

European championship JKA Karate do, Prague, CZ

May 2004 became a breakthrough year in a history of JKA Czech Republic as well as of Karatedo Tsunami Prachatice team. Czech Union JKA became the first union from all countries from so called “ex” Eastern block, that organized International tournament of European format within its territory. European championship has been organized with the big support from European association JKA headed by technical director of JKA Europe shihan Bura. Organizers of the event with the president of the union Mr.Strnad on the first place led the whole action to the successful end and that is why the Czech Union could become a part of the history.

And what was the role of the Tsunami team? It is again connected with David Havlík. He took a part in the mentioned tournament as a referee. That looks quite normal but do not be mistaken. It is David Havlik, whose performance as a main referee (sushin) attracted shihan Bura during final match in kumite between Hungary and Serbia/Crna Gora in such a way, that he was nominated and recommended to travel in the very same year to Japan to participate in World Championship Karate JKA. Mr. Havlik has been recommended to the management of the Czech Union of JKA to complete an exam for international referee directly in the birthplace of this art so that he could act as a referee in the coming World championship.
